XQuartz is an open-source project that together with supporting libraries and applications, forms the X11.app that Apple has shipped with OS X since version 10.5.
Upon opening Xquartz you will be able to easily access your X11 applications, but also add shortcuts or duplicate them, if you want to.
In the Output Preferences tab you can choose the desired colors or even enable the fullscreen mode. In order to change the colors you must relaunch the X11 system.
XQuartz also allows you to modify Pasteboard actions like syncing. You can choose to update Pasteboard when detecting clipboard changes and update PRIMARY when Pasteboard changes.
